EIDL (Economic Injury Disaster Loan) Program Updates

  • The deadline to request a loan increase or reconsideration is May 6, 2022.
  • The COVID-19 EIDL portal (covid19relief1.sba.gov, also known as the “RAPID portal”) will close on May 16, 2022. Borrowers should download their loan documents from the portal prior to this date using this link

Overland Park received $3 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. After robust engagement with the business community, the city chose CCF to administer three grant programs.

Businesses can only apply to a single Overland Park APRA fund:

  1. The Impacted Industries Fund will offer grants up to $50,000 to businesses operating in industries that experienced
    employee loss during the pandemic. Those industries include utilities, management of companies, information,
    education services, mining, quarrying, oil and gas extraction, accommodation and food services, and creative
    industries. To apply, businesses must have fewer than 250 full-time equivalent employees and less than $2 million of
    revenue.
  2. The Small Business Rescue Fund will offer awards of up to $50,000 to for-profit, non-profits, home-based and
    internet-based businesses located in Overland Park. The funds can be used for payroll, off-setting economic losses,
    childcare support for employees, business improvement needs, and training and hiring needs. To apply, businesses
    must have fewer than 250 full-time equivalent employees and less than $2 million of revenue.
  3. The Hotel Fund will be specifically for locally owned hotels operating in Overland Park. This fund was created after
    the city received feedback about the unique, ongoing challenges of the hotel industry. This fund will award up to
    $50,000 to offset this economic hardship.

The City of Shawnee is once again offering Shawnee Economic Recovery and Assistance Grants for Shawnee-located small businesses. These grants can offer up to $5,000 to help cover rent or mortgage costs.

Grant Program for KCK Small Businesses

Unified Government Launches Resiliency Grant Program for KCK Small Businesses 
Small businesses can apply for ARPA funds to address the pandemic impact on operations.

Kansas City, KS– The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS is looking to assist local KCK businesses through the new KCK Small Business Resiliency Grant Program. The grant is adopted by the Unified Government (UG) Board of Commissioners and was funded by the Unified Government’s allocation of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.

The UG Resiliency Grant was created to help reduce the financial strain on local businesses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grant funds can be used to help business continue to prepare for changes in the way consumers are doing business. This includes funding for upgrading websites for e-commerce, buildings, and physical plants remediation to comply with safety guidelines, software upgrades, professional service support (accounting, legal), etc.

The expenditure of these funds are subject to the eligibility requirements, rules and regulations set forth by the US Treasury Department and the US Office of Management of Budget (OMB). For more details go to: www.wycokck.org/ARPA

Program Overview
Local businesses wanting to apply for this grant are asked to submit the required documentation through the Economic Development’s online applicant registration form at KCK Small Business Resiliency Grant.

Grant applicants are for eligible to apply for up to $10,000 in funding, and if awarded are not required to accept the full amount of awarded funds.  Priority will be given to businesses with fewer than 25 employees, but local businesses may have up to 100 employees.  For a complete list of business, expense, and grant type eligibility requirements, please review the Small Business Grant Program Overview document.

All businesses who receive grant funds are required to complete a business intake and 2 hours of business technical assistance training to assist with resiliency, sustainability, and business planning.
Grant request applications will begin to be reviewed starting January 4, 2022.  The grant application process will remain open until all funds are distributed.

“Small businesses are at the heart of our local economy,” said Unified Government Small Business Liaison Shaya Lockett. “These grants will provide much-needed assistance to help small businesses in KCK adopt new technology and tools to navigate the impacts of the pandemic on our economy.”

KC Region Small Business Relief & Recovery Loan Fund

Small businesses interested in applying for the KC COVID-19 Small Business Relief Loan Fund must:

  • Be located in the Kansas City Region
    • Missouri: Jackson, Clay, Platte, and Cass counties in
    • Kansas: Wyandotte, Johnson, and Leavenworth counties
  • Have 20 or fewer full-time equivalent employees
  • Have $2.5 million or less in annual revenue

The KC Region Small Business Relief + Recovery Loan Fund has reopened to small businesses experiencing continued financial strain due to the economic conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. As an ally to local entrepreneurs, AltCap remains committed to helping entrepreneurs access the resources they need to come back strong.
